Located in Dibrugarh district of Upper Assam, Joonktollee Tea Estate is the earliest tea estate acquired by the Bangurs, who thus made their entry into the sphere of agri-business, and the one that began the journey of the Company. The estate is spread over 485 hectares and planted out with quality high - yielding TRA (Tea Research Association) approved clones which produces finest quality of Orthodox and CTC teas. Joonktollee Tea Factory is capable of manufacturing over two million kgs of tea annually and is one of the most modern industrial units in the area, as the teas are manufactured with minimal human intervention. The estate also procures bought leaf which not only assists in promoting small tea growers but also helps boost our overall production.
The estate has envisaged a plan to work towards the mitigation of climate change and keep pace with our country's drive towards its Clean Energy Policy. Joonktollee Tea Estate will establish a solar power project in FY 2023-24 to promote ethical and environment friendly practices and cut carbon emissions as the estate will supply the world market with teas produced using green energy. This will be our contribution to India's effort in arresting climate change as we take a step ahead that may well prove to be a giant leap for the industry.
