Cowcoody Coffee Estate has been in existence for more than 80 years and takes pride in its strategic location being in one of the traditionally best coffee growing areas of Karnataka. The estate is located amidst a large habitat of flora and fauna in the Western Ghats in Somwarpet, Coorg district and Sakleshpur, Hassan district. The total area of the estate is 469 hectares, of which area under plantation is 402 hectares. Annual production ranges around 130 tons of Arabica and 270 tons of Robusta. Cowcoody produces one of the best Parchment coffees and its strength lies in pure variety-wise harvest and processing at estate itself, which enables it to maintain and market its quality coffee all round the year.
Scientific cultivation practices are methodically adopted to harvest healthy, pest free, intrinsic coffee fruits. Thereafter, the coffee berries undergo pulping, fermentation, washing and drying. At the state-of-the-art fully automated COFFEE CURING WORKS situated at the estate itself, the coffees are subject to dry processing conforming to stringent quality checks. Subsequently they are color sorted through an electronic process resulting in the best quality coffee in terms of color, size and grade conforming to all parameters and standards.
Cowcoody coffees are considered as one of the best quality coffee from the Coorg region and most sought after, purchased by coffee roasters and packetiers for their blends, merchant traders and exporters. Since Cowcoody coffees are available at the weekly auction throughout the year, domestic buyers prefer to buy them on a weekly basis.
